Epping Renovation

The clients purchased a home that though full of potential, was outdated and poorly suited to their needs, particularly in terms of the arrangement of the bedrooms and main living areas. The design focused on reimagining the flow of the space while retaining the building’s original shell and key structural elements.

We preserved the existing kitchen location to avoid the costly rerouting of utilities and focused on reworking the adjacent dining and living areas to create a more open, connected feel. The main floor’s circulation is anchored by the fireplace, strategically placed to be enjoyed from all three spaces—the kitchen, dining room, and living room. This central feature not only connects the areas but also subtly defines distinct zones, providing a sense of both openness and intimacy.

Ceiling heights were carefully considered to enhance the atmosphere and function of each space. The living room features a lower, more intimate ceiling, creating a cozy, inviting environment. In contrast, the kitchen and dining areas are defined by a dramatic vaulted ceiling, which elevates the sense of spaciousness and light, perfect for this area of gathering and connection.

Ultimately, the renovation reimagines the home’s flow, balancing openness and privacy, and creating a dynamic, functional space that supports the clients' busy lifestyle and needs while offering a comfortable, modern living experience.
